Recently Disneyland officially re-opened again since its closure from the pandemic and that now means that almost every Disney Park is officially open. This made me want to post another list on the site but also do another interactive virtual video for my Youtube channel. But it got me thinking and wondering about something. I’m subscribed to some of the greatest Disney/theme park YouTube channels, which include TPMVids, YesterWorld, FastPass Facts, Sharp Productions, Defunctland, ThemePark History, Disney Dan, Offhand Disney and more. Now I have learned about a lot about the Disney parks because of them but I have also watched so many videos on a lot of attractions/rides/shows that I have either been on or not ever experience. So that got me thinking of making another Disney list, but rides/attractions/shows I would love to experience all over the 12 different Disney parks. Now I won’t include defunct ride/attractions/shows but if I could I would include The Great Movie Ride, Alien Encounter, Journey Into Imagination(original), Studio Backlot Tour, Captain EO show(even though you could find the full movie on YouTube) and much more. If I list something you been on, comment below what your experience was like on it. I’ll try to explain the ride as best as I can and hope you guys enjoy the videos. Anyway it’s time to visit most of the Disney parks all over the world and enjoy some more Disney rides/attractions/shows. Note there are future things like an Avengers Land in Disney Land, Epcot is getting a Guardians of the Galaxy ride and a future night time show and maybe one day the People Mover in Disney Land will be fixed. So everything that’s not tech able to ride or watch will not count. Let’s begin.
Top 10 Rides/Attractions/Shows I want to Experience:
10. Mystic Manor (Hong Kong Disneyland) – Hong Kong Disney is probably the most underrated park of the Disney parks. But it has probably one of the coolest rides in all 12 of the Disney parks. Mystic Manor is Hong Kong Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion as it has a whole different story and doesn’t take place inside a haunted mansion. Due to the Chinese culture they do not use departed spirits of the afterlife in their ride. So instead of ghosts, skeletons and zombies, they use something very different. The ride is about Mystic Manor, home of Lord Henry Mystic. However inside the Manor holds an enchanted music box which may possess magical properties. However once the music box is mentioned we are introduced to a little monkey named Albert. Lord Mystic tells Albert not to touch the music box and leaves. Albert being very curious opens the box and the magic inside comes out and brings everything in the manor to life. This ride has amazing animatronics and great visual effects. I’ve watched multiple POV’s and a video history of the ride and I love how the ride uses the idea of living things coming to life from magic and music. Hong Kong Disneyland really outdid themselves with this dark ride and they were able to create a ride that uses the idea of the haunted mansion and they use a different concept so it fits with the Chinese culture. I would love to go to Hong Kong Disneyland and go on this ride. I mean after watching the Imagineering Story and learning that this ride kind of helped the popularity of the park and bring in more people, it made me want to visit the park and see other amazing rides and attractions the park holds. But first I would start with their best ride, Mystic Manor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmLArvabuoQ
9. Radiator Springs Racers (Disneyland: California Adventure) – The Cars franchise is probably one of the most underrated Pixar films (except Cars 2) and they are loved by many people. Because of the first Cars film popularity, Disney decided to create a land for the Cars movie and in 2012 Cars Land opened up in Disney’s California Adventure. Inside the land holds Disneyland’s most expensive ride to build, Radiator Springs Racers. The entire ride and land itself is Radiator Springs brought to life and the ride itself holds some of the greatest audio animatronics in Disney parks history. The ride has the same technology as Test Track and it has a max speed of 40 mph. I’ve seen multiple videos about this ride and the animatronics and I am very impressed on how the car animatronics lips move, which is pretty amazing considering that they are cars. But the theme of the ride looks so beautiful and looks just like Radiator Springs. Like I recently watched the full ride through on TPMVids YouTube channel and I was amazed on how beautiful the rides, animatronics and pretty much everything. This ride is loved by so many people that go to Disneyland and it’s one of those rides that everyone in the family can enjoy. I can’t wait to finally go onto this ride and be able to say I was in Radiator Springs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5JurQTv72M
8. Disney Paint the Night Parade (Hong Kong Disneyland) – The Paint the Night Parade originally started in Hong Kong Disneyland in October 2014 but was brought into Disneyland in May 2015. Sadly the Disneyland parade ended in 2018 but it is still going on as of right now in Hong Kong Disneyland. It uses the Main Street Electrical Parade theme song, Baroque Hoedown along with other Disney classic songs and an original version of Wreck It Raplh’s “When Can I See You Again” by Owl City. Now unlike The Main Street Electrical Parade, it uses LED Lights throughout the entire parade. The floats in this parade are also very different to other usual floats seen in the former Disney parks parades as they all have a certain theme/Disney character. Now I actually watched the parade on another TPMVids video I was amazed after watching the video and I couldn’t believe how beautiful and out of this world this parade was. It sucks that the Disneyland version is not there anymore but I wouldn’t mind seeing it in Hong Kong Disneyland. Plus I feel like I’m at a Disney party when I watch and listen to the music/beat of the parade. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILCJMb5JjH8
7. Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! (Disneyland: California Adventure) – On January 3rd, 2017 Twilight Zone Tower of Terror closed in Disneyland. However it was announced back in 2016 San Diego Comic Con that Guardians of the Galaxy would not only get a ride/attraction but it would replace Tower of Terror. That did anger many Disney park fans as Tower of Terror is a loved ride/attraction. But in May 2017 those angry people changed, well most of them of course, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout would open. Now the ride has the same infrastructure and ride system as Tower of Terror and it is also the first Disney attraction to feature Marvel characters. Fun fact the ride opened the same day Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 came out in theaters. The ride has an amazing themed queue with multiple Easter eggs from the film, Disney and former Disney ride/attractions props including the original Abominable Snowman from Matterhorn Bobsleds and the former animatronic Rex from Star Tours. But it also has in the queue show a phenomenal Rocket the raccoon animatronic as it looks life like. I have seen many videos of this animatronic and everyone praises it as it looks so beautiful. The ride also has multiple songs from the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks so each time you go on the ride you most likely will have a different song. It’s also amazing because the original cast and Stan Lee make an appearance throughout the ride on the screens. Hey if that’s not enough for you to ride it then maybe this video will. I know for sure I can’t wait to ride this ride when I finally go to Disneyland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu07yGqxzY8
6. Splash Mountain (Disney World Magic Kingdom) – Sadly, I have never been on Splash Mountain. You think I would consider that it is a classic and beloved Disney ride. This is a log flume ride that is based on the characters, songs and stories of the 1946 Disney film Song of the South. Now you may be asking: What is Song of the South? Well to tell you the truth it’s a Disney film that has been kept in the vault and for good reason. If you really want to know about why then you should look it up as there is a very dark reason why. But yeah Disney used that hidden film for a log ride. The ride follows Brer Rabbit as he is being chased by Brer Fox and Brer Bear. The ride uses so many audio animatronics and has a very amazing finale where they all sing Zip a Dee Doo Dah. I feel like I’m missing something important. Oh yeah the reason why I haven’t been on this ride. Well to tell you the truth I do want to go on this ride really badly but the 52 foot drop added with the amount of water that goes on you is the reason why. I didn’t want to get wet pretty much. But the ride looks so fun and it’s a classic so I must and will go on Splash Mountain the next time I go to Disney World. Now I picked this version of the ride because it is the longest version of the ride as there are two other versions of the ride in Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland. But I must pick my favorite Disney Park as it’s the one I always go too and it is said to have the better Splash Mountain. Now I was announced back in June 2020 that Splash Mountain is going to be getting a huge refurbishment and will be changed to a Princess and the Frog themed ride in the near future. So I hope and pray to ride the original themed Splash Mountain before the ride gets a huge refurbishment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUsgniDbYgs
5. Fantasmic! 2.0 (Disneyland) –Fantasmic is my favorite thing to do in Disney World and it is to me the better version of Fantasmic as I have seen that version the most. However it is technically not the original as Fantasmic first debuted in Disneyland back in 1992. There are a lot of differences between Disney World’s and Disneyland’s Fantasmic. For starter’s the Disneyland version has different scenes and is shown on the Rivers of America stage. However it also includes Pirates of the Caribbean movie as it has Jack Sparrow on the Sailing Ship Columbia. Also instead of a puppeteer Maleficent dragon, this version has an animatronic dragon, which I think is a little bit cooler but I still love Disney World’s version more. Having just said that unlike Disney World’s, Disneyland’s Fantasmic got a refurbishment back in 2016 and a new version of Fantasmic opened in 2017. Now I would defiantly love to see Disneyland’s version up close in personal as I have seen this version both on YouTube and on Disney on Demand so I have an idea of what the show is like. But I don’t have the emotional experience like I have with the Disney World’s version of the show, which I would love to have so I can cry while watching this show. Leave me alone I’m a Disney nerd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fP3OCCP-DPc
4. Phantom Manor (Disneyland Paris) – The Haunted Mansion is a beloved and praised ride/attraction in the Disney parks. However unlike Mystic Manor, it continues the Haunted Mansion tradition and concept but with a twist. Phantom Manor is Disneyland Paris’ version of the Haunted Mansion as it has most of the Haunted Mansion scenes but with a darker tone. The story for this ride follows Henry Ravenswood, a western settler who struck gold in Big Thunder Mountain and founded Thunder Mesa Mining Company. His daughter Melanie was to be married to a train engineer named Jake but a mysterious Phantom appeared and hanged Jake in the attic by the neck from the rafters. Melanie waited for him in the ballroom as she didn’t know the events that happened. She said some day he will come. Only he never came and The Phantom stayed in the house bringing in his demonic friends from the afterlife. Pretty much this is a very dark story for a family ride and yeah pretty much a curse was lifted onto the house that stopped anyone from leaving the home. The ride has a lot of amazing audio animatronics which include 3 Phantom animatronics. The ride has been refurbished as well as the original Phantom was voiced by Vincent Price but due to legal reasons they had to change the voice of the character and there were some additional effects added into the ride as well. I think this version of the Haunted Mansion is so amazing and I would love to ride this ride as it has everything I love. Death, murder and the living dead. Okay I don’t love all those things, but I do love horror and this story could literally become a horror movie for Disney. Just don’t have Eddie Murphy in this one. But regardless I would love to go to Disneyland Paris to go on this ride/attraction and be able to see up close how amazing it all is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IC17J363DEA
3. TRON Coaster Ride (Shanghai Disneyland and Disney World in 2022) – In 1982, Disney created a sci-fi adventure called TRON and it became a cult classic. It spawned a sequel, TRON Legacy in 2010 which was a box office success. The ride would debut in 2016 along with the rest of Shanghai Disneyland and it could be found in Tomorrowland. The ride track takes the riders inside and outside the attractions building and it reaches up to 60 mph speed, which makes it the fastest Disney rollercoaster. Now unlike any other Disney coaster, the ride uses a motorbike styled vehicle, created by Walt Disney Imagineering, as it uses a method of individual rider experience. Riders lean forward and grip handlebars as they get locked into place by a pad situated behind them. It reminds me a bit of the way Flight of Passage has its ride system with the motorbike styled vehicle. In 2017 during the D23 Expo it was announced that there would be a version of this ride in the Magic Kingdom in 2022, just in time for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. The ride there will be called TRON Lightcycle Power Run. Now I will hopefully next year get a chance to ride the ride, fingers crossed. But I would love to also ride the original in Shanghai as the ride itself looks stunning and I bet it feels smooth and thrilling, especially with the motorbike styled vehicle. Now I’m not a big fan of the TRON films but when I first got a look at this ride I fell in love with the ride. So you can bet I will freak out while riding the ride in Disney World in the future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taeucixxrdM
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure (Shanghai Disneyland) – Now I know I have been on POTC in Disney World but unlike all the other POTC rides in the Disney Parks, this one is different. This ride is actually called Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure and it uses a storyline based on the films. It also has digital screens in the ride that have a cool projection technology and it has some out of this world audio animatronics. So in case you’re not following at home, the ride has better visual effects and animatronics than the other POTC rides. Now that’s not saying that the other rides or animatronics are bad as they are all amazing, but Shanghai Disney and the Imagineering team found a new, technological way to make the ride not only interesting to the guests but to leave an experience you will never forget. I would love to get a chance to go on this ride as I love the effect with the Jack Sparrow animatronic and I love that they included a Davy Jones animatronic as they both look so beautiful. One last thing about the ride before I leave you with the clip but the ride already has a Best Dark Ride award for 2019 from the Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards. So if that’s not enough to check it out then well here’s the clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP4JFCTlZ1U&t=532s
1. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Disney World: Hollywood Studios and Disneyland) – In 2015 during the D23 Expo, it was announced that a land was being created in both Disney World’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland. The land was Galaxy’s Edge and it was based on the Star Wars franchise, more towards the new trilogy from Episodes 7 – 9. Inside Galaxy’s Edge are 2 new and popular rides/attractions, Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance. After seeing the news on what both rides were going to be about, Rise of the Resistance won me over the most as it is a trackless dark ride, walk through, motion simulator, drop ride system ride. It literally has 5 different types of things in the ride, oh tell me more please. Okay Steven, the ride will feature animatronics of multiple characters from the Star Wars film including Kylo Ren. Wow that’s amazing is there anything else? It has amazing practical sets, projection mapping and screen based media and it puts you in the middle of an altercation between the First Order and The Resistance. SIGN ME UP!!!!! TAKE MY FUCKING MONEY DISNEY!!!!!!! I watched multiple ride videos, POV’s and more of this ride/attraction and holy fuck I fucking fell in love with this ride and I have yet to even ride it. I cried a little bit inside while watching the video the first time and I instantly said to myself I want to fucking go on this ride right now!!! Now as of right now the ride has a high demand for guests so it doesn’t have a fastpass. So Disney created a system of gaining a place on the ride on the Disney Park phone app as guests are required to register a boarding group on their phone or at the park kiosk in order to gain access towards the ride. That might sound confusing and more annoying than just getting a fastpass but as of right now it’s more simpler for all guests to be able to go on the ride. I don’t think I need to tell you all how excited I am to eventually ride this amazing and beautiful ride because I fucking want to ride it. Please God, get rid of this stupid virus and send me mad money and a plane ticket to Disney World or Land and let me be able to fucking ride Rise of the Resistance. PLEASE!!!!! Okay I kind of lost it there but that’s how anticipated I am for this ride experience. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone but I will still post a clip and to those who don’t care about being spoiled then you are welcome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY4lBl1Y098
Now I know we all can’t physically be on the rides or the shows and trust me I bet they look so much better in person because of the way the camera lighting is in some of the videos might take away how amazing they look but I’m hoping this top 10 list can get you out of this funk and stressful situation were in and be able to have a moment of being happy or at least put a smile on your face. I want to be able to do what these YouTube channels have been doing and just get us out of a bad situation for a moment and be able to feel something less stressful. Anyway I had a lot of fun researching these rides and I found some more that I want to share. So here is some more in the honorable mentions.
Honorable Mentions: Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway (Disney World’s Hollywood Studios) – This is the very first ride for Mickey and Minnie and it replaced the beloved Great Movie Ride. It’s only been around for less than a month but for what I have seen for the ride and learned is that it’s a 2.5D trackless dark ride with a few animatronics. It’s very different from most of the rides on the list and the Disney parks and it sucks that it opened up 2 weeks before the pandemic. So here is what the ride is like and I hope to ride it in person one day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szzPYxddwbE
Incredicoaster (Disneyland: California Adventure) – Replacing California Screamin in 2018, Incredicoaster is a rollercoaster based on the Pixar film The Incredibles. The ride goes a max speed of 55 mph and it is one of the most popular rides at Pixar Pier and Disneyland’s California Adventure. I hate going on rollercoaster’s that make you go upside down but I’m willing to give this ride a try. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EuLo1WBIX0
Journey to the Center of the Earth (Tokyo DisneySea) – Based off of the Jules Verne’s sci-fi novel, the ride has the same ride features as Epcot’s Test Track. The ride is in a Volcano at Mysterious Island and it holds one of the coolest animatronics in the Disney Parks. The ride’s max speed is 47 mph and I defiantly hope to ride it one day. Hoping it becomes a part of Animal Kingdom in the future but I can only dream at this point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEzlc1dkhEY
Matterhorn Bobsleds (Disneyland) – This is probably one of the oldest rides that is still around to this day in Disneyland. The ride has gone through many refurbishments and it has the Abominable Snowman animatronic that is beloved by many guests of the park. It’s one of those classic rides that everyone loves and I would defiantly want to give it a spin when I visit Disneyland in the future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZrcaZWgOaQ&t=164s
Disney’s illuminations (Disney Paris) Disney’s Ignite the Dream Nightime spectacular (Shanghai Disney) – So technically these two fireworks shows count as one because both are the same show but with a different scene used in the shows. In Paris they use a scene from Beauty and the Beast and in Shanghai they use a scene from Mulan. It makes sense because both scenes are representing the country the film’s are located and both do a fabulous job with the visuals, photo mapping technology onto the castles and of course the fireworks look beautiful. I’ll post both to get an idea of the differences between both. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nh_qfDqx7eo – Paris https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KudRbR18NY – Shanghai
Ratatouille: The Adventure (Disneyland Paris and Disney World Epcot) – This ride is set to debut in Disney World in October 2021. But the original ride debuted in Paris in 2013 and it’s based on the 2007 Pixar film Ratatouille. It is a motion based trackless 3-D dark ride. It’s one of those rides that I feel like is fun for the whole family and the ride is meant to make you as tiny as a rat. Now in the video it’s 2-D but riding the actual ride in person will give you the full 3-D effect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y6es-UIcRQ Video Version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we6NQxiATCs
