For four decades WrestleMania has become one of the most talked about sporting events of all time. It literally is the SuperBowl for WWE and every person in the world, fan of wrestling or not, watches the event and talks about it with their buddies the next day. There have been 36 WrestleMania’s in total with a 37th one just around the corner. With WrestleMania 37 being next week I thought why not rank 10 of the best WrestleMania’s of all time because it has been a heated discussion in the past on which Mania is the best of all time. Now this one might be half opinionated so I just want to make this one very clear. Also I will not be ranking them by the matches as for example yes Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 or Edge and Christian vs The Dudley Boyz vs The Hardy Boyz at WrestleMania 2000 (16) were great matches in the event that made them feel very special but I mean both those Mania’s aren’t all that great. I’m ranking these Mania’s by how well the card is for the show, how all the matches in general were, how impactful they were in WWE’s history and also professional wrestling’s history but most of all how spectacular the show exactly was. Now we all have different opinions on this topic and all have our own favorite WrestleMania so comment below your favorite Mania of all time and which Mania you truly believe is the greatest Mania of all time and let’s get ready to rumble and countdown the Top 10 Greatest WrestleMania’s of All Time.
Top 10 Greatest WrestleMania’s of All Time
10. WrestleMania 35 (2019) – The god damn event had 16 matches in total and ran for 8 fucking hours but even though the event was as long as watching the Justice League Snyder Cut twice it still was one of WWE’s most solid WrestleMania’s of all time. Not everything about the night was perfect as Bobby Lashley vs. “Demon” Finn Balor, Samoa Joe vs. Rey Mysterio and Baron Corbin vs. Kurt Angle were very underwhelming matches that were either just boring or not that exciting, but the rest of the card were either pretty decent matches to amazing excellent performances from many great wrestlers. Shane McMahon vs. The Miz was probably a surprising decent match considering their feud and build up to the PPV was very lackluster. Also the 2 minute long match between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar was very entertaining and it felt good seeing Seth Rollins win the WWE Universal Championship and slay the beast. Plus that Elias/John Cena segment was literally one of the greatest things ever to happen at WrestleMania. Seeing Cena return with his Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick was literally a huge surprise that we never asked for but defiantly needed. Batista vs. Triple H No Holds Barred match was an incredible slobber knocker that literally saw two part timers beat the living shit out of each other. Now while the Women’s Championship Main event was not as great as everyone thought it would be, it still was a pretty decent match that saw Becky Lynch not only defeat Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey, but it was a moment that many people will never forget as Becky Lynch became Becky 2 Belts and became the first women to win the main event at WrestleMania. But the icing of the cake of this PPV was Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship. This match not only is one of the greatest matches in Mania history, but the build up for it was incredible and both men put on one hell of a performance that made it such a spectacular to watch. Seeing Kofi Kingston raise the WWE Championship up high is a moment that not only wrestling fans won’t forget, but all black Americans will not forget as Kofi Kingston became the first African American WWE Champion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDCXBv6sf0s
9. WrestleMania III (1987) – Probably the most legendary WrestleMania of all time, WrestleMania III is known for well one huge match in general but it still is a classic Mania that is a spectacular. Not everything in this Mania was brilliant and incredible as well let’s face it I don’t think people are paying hundreds of dollars to watch a matchup between Hercules and Billy Jack Haynes. Most of the matches in the night were less than 10 minutes but that’s how they were back in the early Mania’s and there is nothing wrong with that. Honky Tonk Man vs. Jake “The Snake” Roberts was a pretty solid matchup and while half of the card was pretty decent matches that could be graded anywhere from a “C” to a “B-“, they still were pretty entertaining matches. However the matchup that everyone talks about and has in their favorite Mania matches of all time tier list is the Intercontinental Championship match between the then champion “Macho Man” Randy Savage and the eventual winner Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. Both men put on a hell of a show and showed the huge crowd that they can put on an amazing 5 star match in under 15 minutes. But the matchup that everyone literally talks about from this Mania alone is the Main Event between Andre the Giant and WWF Champion Hulk Hogan. This match in general might not be the greatest technical wrestling match of all time but by god is it a legendary iconic match that see’s Hulk Hogan body slam the big 7 foot giant onto the mat. That moment in particular is the single most legendary moment in WrestleMania history and even in wrestling history. WrestleMania III is a spectacular every wrestling fan should watch at one point in their life. Yes not everything about it is going to be amazing and spectacular but I mean it is literally the most iconic Mania of all time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jL-SxOAJfQo
8. WrestleMania 23 (2007) – I’m not going to lie about this one but WrestleMania 23 is pretty underrated considering it has some pretty incredible matches under its belt. The Money in the Bank match is a definite must watch that sees 8 men put their bodies on the line. Hell I have to give big props to Edge and Jeff Hardy just for that extreme leg drop off the ladder spot that literally replays in my head each time when I think of this Mania. Also this was the last Mania that included Chris Benoit as he and MVP put on a spectacular performance in their match up for the United States Championship. Great Khali vs. Kane and Melina vs. Ashley Massaro in a Lumberjill match were not great matches and kind of the duds and I will say the New Breed vs. ECW Originals wasn’t so great but I still found it pretty entertaining. Now this one will shock you if you never watched wrestling but the Battle of the Billionaires match between Vince McMahon and Celebrity Apprentice host Donald Trump was pretty entertaining. It felt good seeing Mr. McMahon being shaved by Bobby Lashley, Donald Trump and his long time rival Stone Cold Steve Austin. The 2 World Championship matches however are two reasons why WrestleMania 23 is a phenomenal Mania. Batista vs. The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship might be one of the greatest big men matches in WWE history. Both men really went out there and beat the living shit out of each other and my god there was a moment where I thought Taker was going to lose but in the end Taker once again wins at WrestleMania and even brought some gold home with him by winning the World Heavyweight Championship. Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena literally should be considered one of the greatest WWE Championship matches in Wrestlemania History. It’s not as great as their Iron Man match on Raw but man was this match fucking incredible. It almost hits the 30 minute mark and they literally beat the living hell out of each other. Cena might have won the match but Michaels literally proved again why he is called Mr. WrestleMania. Another solid Mania in the books that kind of gets slept on a lot even though it is an incredible PPV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owv1uAdU_oA
7. WrestleMania X (1994) – The WWF at this point was coming close to its lowest lows as The New Generation Era was beginning to look very terrible but WrestleMania X was one of the biggest moments of the New Generation Era. While not every match in the card was incredible, I’m looking at you Earthquake vs. Adam Bomb, the PPV in general had some very big moments that get so much appreciation and love from the wrestling community. First off this isn’t a big moment but a fun fact, this Mania was the final Mania that included “Macho Man” Randy Savage, so that’s something fun to know right. His match with Crush was not memorable but hey what a way to send off one of the GOATS. Also there were two WWF Championship matches but one was more better than the other one so we will talk about the more “meh” one now. Lex Luger vs. Yokozuna was nothing special. The fact that this felt like it was built up to be the new Andre the Giant vs. Hulk Hogan might be a reason why it gets a lot of hate. Thankfully Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna for the WWF Championship was much better. There happened to be two 5 star matches under one semi-decent card. The opener between Owen Hart and Bret Hart is by far one of the greatest opening matches in not just WrestleMania history but in all of WWE history. Both men went out there for twenty minutes and told an incredible story. Plus it was pretty special for big brother Bret to give his little brother Owen the win. It’s a shame that this match is probably Owen’s most successful and beloved match in Mania history. The other match that literally everyone talks about is the Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon. This match in general was the very first ladder match in WWF/E history and both men really put on beautiful performances in this match. WrestleMania X is honestly a spectacular that is a national pastime. Madison Square Garden hosted a very great Mania here, but it wouldn’t be the last time where they hosted such an incredible event. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAsQccuU3ww
6. WrestleMania XX (2004) – Madison Square Garden hosted my favorite WrestleMania of all time and yes WrestleMania XX might be ranked a bit high but this is my favorite Mania of all time so I wanted to give it a higher ranking. WrestleMania XX has a lot of memorable moments from the return of the Undertaker and Paul Bearer to one of the worst matches of all time between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. Thankfully the two put on a better match 13 years later at WrestleMania 33. WrestleMania XX was where we saw John Cena win his first championship in the WWE. But it also had a very entertaining and decent match between Evolution (Randy Orton, Ric Flair and Batista) and Mick Foley and The Rock . You can see the extremely great chemistry all 5 men had with one another in this match. The right team won and a month later Randy and Mick Foley put on an even more incredible match at Backlash. I know this match doesn’t get enough love but I mean I enjoyed the Cruiserweight Championship Invitational match. I wish it had gone a little bit longer but for what we got I was pretty satisfied with it. Undertaker vs. Kane was not incredible but it sure was phenomenal to watch the Deadman beat the shit out of his brother. The two World championship matches by far stand out from this Mania. Kurt Angle vs. the WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero was an incredible match. It had a lot of technical wrestling and incredible storytelling. It is one of those great matches that can use some more appreciation but still it is one hell of a match. Then there is the main event match for the World Heavyweight Championship between the champion Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit. This match in general is one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history. The back and forth action between all three men to the fact that Triple H and Shawn Michaels were beating each other to death make this match so incredible. Like literally HHH and Shawn look like they were in a Horror film with the amount of blood they were losing, especially Shawn. Benoit did the unthinkable and won the match and after the match he and Eddie shared a very heartwarming moment that to this day is one of the greatest moments in WrestleMania history. It’s never shown by WWE because of the events that led to Benoit’s death. Regardless this Mania literally is a perfect example, at least to my eyes, of what a WrestleMania should look like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r18xTSEz-8I
5. WrestleMania XIX (2003) – WrestleMania XIX is one of the more classic Mania’s that has both great action and great storytelling within most of the matches on the card. While not every match on the card was incredible, the fact that they took place in a very beloved Mania makes them pretty special. The Undertaker vs. Big Show and A-Train match might be the worst match of the night but the entrance for Taker featuring Limp Bizkit was pretty awesome. Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy had a 5 minute long match that should have gone a bit longer but they did a pretty great job for what they delivered. And while I didn’t care much for the results of this match but Booker T vs. Triple H for the World Heavyweight Title was decent. WrestleMania XIX might have had its fair share of underwhelming matches but it also had some very amazing matches that hold special Mania moments. Hulk Hogan and Mr. McMahon had a pretty big brawl and I have to say while it was very clumsy at times and a good portion of it was just seeing two old guys punching each other and smacking each other with objects until they would bleed but hey it still was one of the more entertaining matches of the night. Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho even put on a great performance that many consider to be one of the best matches in both men’s careers. Plus it felt good to see Michaels back in the WWE ring wrestling at WrestleMania. Probably the best match of the night was between WWE Champion Kurt Angle and 2003 Royal Rumble winner Brock Lesnar. Both men put on a beautiful storytelling matchup that saw Brock Lesnar defeat Kurt Angle and win the WWE Championship for the 2nd time in his career. It sucks that a botched Shooting Star Press from Brock kind of gets the spotlight the most from this match but still it was a great professional wrestling match between two future legends of not just in the WWE but in professional wrestling. Finally we have Rock vs. Austin III. This would be Stone Cold Steve Austin’s final match in his career and who better to have your final match with at WrestleMania than with your greatest opponent ever The Rock. The match was very great and very back and forth. The Rock and Stone Cold really put on a genuine great wrestling match that to this day gets talked about. The Rock came up with the victory and sent Austin to his retirement. Austin ended his career in style though and in what many people say is the greatest WrestleMania of all time. The crowd in Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington was given a huge gift with this amazing WrestleMania. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq1DNpetCtM
4. WrestleMania XXX (2014) – WrestleMania XXX holds a special place in my heart as it is a Mania I will never forget. It was the first Mania to air on the WWE Network and it was pretty huge back in 2014. The show opened with 3 legends as Hulk Hogan, The Rock and Stone Cold opened the night with a segment that literally felt like it went on for too long but you didn’t care cause these three guys were the biggest draws in Mania history. Not everything about the night was perfect but most of the matches on this night were simply incredible. Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H is honestly one of the best Mania opening matches ever. Bryan and HHH beat the living shit out of each other but in the end Bryan won and was now added into the WWE World Heavyweight Champion match in the main event. The first Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal took place on this night as well and it was pretty entertaining. It was a total shock to see Cesaro win the match but I mean it was a huge moment for his career. That and body slamming Big Show out of the ring making it seem like Hogan body slamming Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III. Cena and Wyatt even had a very great match. The wrong person won as Super Cena defeated Bray Wyatt but hey it was still a great match. WrestleMania XXX is mostly special and amazing for two reasons. The first is because of Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker. The match itself was spectacular but the ending was the biggest shock of not only the night but in WrestleMania history. Brock Lesnar defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania, becoming the 1st man to do so. Taker’s undefeated streak at Mania was over and just like the crowd in attendance, I was stunned and quiet. Being able to watch Taker my whole life, kicking people’s asses in Mania was very special to me. But to now see him as the loser of the match at Mania was very shocking and I’m not going to lie it was heartbreaking. Thankfully the 2nd reason why this Mania was so amazing brought my spirits back up. The main event between the champion Randy Orton, the 2014 Royal Rumble winner Batista and Daniel Bryan is by far one of the greatest Mania main events I have ever seen. The storytelling was phenomenal, the match itself was incredible and most of all the fans were really hard on this match. In the end Daniel Bryan overcame all the obstacles and won the match and finally was able to raise the World Titles high. It was a Cinderella story for Bryan to win the World Titles and it was incredibly a special moment and to do it at WrestleMania is even special. WrestleMania XXX is a very special Mania and it by far one of the greatest Mania’s of all time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oo24E2vI4EA&t=109s
3. WrestleMania 21 (2005) – WrestleMania 21 to this day is one of those Mania’s you had to be there for to enjoy and love. It was the Mania that changed many careers in the company. Also the movie parodies that aired for months before the biggest wrestling show ever were incredible. If you ever have the time YouTube search WrestleMania 21 movie parody commercials. But while seeing Undertaker parody Dirty Harry and seeing Triple H literally put on a great performance in Braveheart, seeing WrestleMania 21 was even more incredible. Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio is honestly the most perfect way to open this PPV. Both are one of the most talented guys in the company and they put on a great performance for the crowd in attendance. Randy Orton and The Undertaker also put on one hell of a performance and there match up even help make Orton look like a future main event star in the company. Then there was the Money in the Bank Ladder Match and oh my god this match literally was incredible. Kane, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Shelton Benjamin, Christian and the eventual winner Edge put on a spectacle in this match as all 6 men had a huge highlighted spot in the match that would make this first time match feel so special. In all seriousness Shelton Benjamin made this match memorable the most with him running up a ladder to clothesline Jericho off the ladder, but still the match is iconic because all 6 men put on an incredible show. Hell even the segment between Rowdy Roddy Piper, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Carlito was freaking entertaining. There were a couple of duds in the PPV like Christy Hemme battling Trish Stratus for the Women’s Championship or Big Show in a sumo wrestling match with legendary Sumo wrestler Akebono but hey at least we also got a 5 star matchup between two of the greatest wrestlers to ever step foot in the WWE ring. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle was by far the best match of the night. Both men really gave an A++ performance in this match. There was no championship on the line; nothing for that matter was on the line. It was just your average 1v1 wrestling match that literally was perfect from beginning to end. The main event World Title matches were pretty cool as well, not as great as the Money in the Bank or Angle vs. Michaels match but it felt good seeing two future Hall of Famers win the gold. John Cena vs. JBL wasn’t amazing but it was awesome seeing John Cena win his 1st of many WWE Titles. And Batista vs. Triple H was actually pretty lit and it also felt great to see the future Guardians of the Galaxy star win the World Heavyweight Title. Both Cena and Batista became legends on this night and this Mania in general had so many amazing moments that many fans of the Ruthless Aggression Era continue to talk about today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B14Ifdqnrfc
2. WrestleMania 31 (2015) – Honestly now thinking about it I can’t think of a single bad thing about this Mania, other than some entrances being meh and Undertaker wrestling in the daylight, but other than that this was a solid WrestleMania from beginning to end. Like every match on the main card, even the pre-show matches, were all exciting and entertaining and simply good to great matches. First off the Intercontinental Championship Ladder match was extremely amazing as all the men in the match did amazing and put on great performances. Daniel Bryan won the match and once again raised the gold up high again in Mania. Cena vs. Rusev was shockingly a good match that saw both men put on some of their best work in their careers. And hell I’ll even say it while it’s the only Women’s match in the card, Paige and AJ Lee vs. The Bella Twins was pretty awesome. I wish Taker and Bray Wyatt had their match in the night time, but San Francisco time zone didn’t allow that I guess but hey even they put on a great match. Randy Orton and Seth Rollins had one of the best matches of the night. Kind of wish it went on a bit longer but I mean it’s all good because that Curb Stomp reversal to an RKO was literally fucking incredible and makes up for the extra time I wish they had in this match. Now while all these matches were pretty lit, a match that kind of gets called overrated and not so great happened on this night and let me just say that this match was freaking awesome. Sure it’s two part timers wrestling, one being literally in his 50’s, but hey I can say this cold hard fact, Sting vs. Triple H was fucking a matchup I wish I saw live. We got to see NWO and DX invade the match, making it feel like the Monday Night Wars again when it was WCW vs. WWF and hell it didn’t matter who the winner was in the end, the match itself was fucking incredible and no one can ever get me to say that it wasn’t. The main event of the night was very incredible as well. You would think it would be a boo fest since Roman Reigns in 2015 was hated and main eventing Mania against the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar but my god this match was a slobber knocker. It got ten times better when Seth Rollins made the heist of the century and cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and added himself into the end of the match and eventually win by curb stomping Roman Reigns for the finish. Yeah this WrestleMania is honestly perfection. Sure not everything about it was perfect but it’s honestly the best Mania in a long time and for sure will be seen as a legendary classic within the next decade. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdcX0DQIS7s&t=406s
1. WrestleMania X-Seven (2001) – Honestly there is only one word to describe this WrestleMania, Legendary. WrestleMania X-Seven is the greatest WrestleMania of all time without any question. It’s honestly the most perfect Mania of all time. Now that’s not without saying that it has its flaws but you can look past those flaws and literally say that this WrestleMania is the greatest Mania ever. From beginning to end this wrestling company found a way to make this PPV entertaining. Like they legit had some of their weirdest gimmicks of all time in one ring for a battle royal and while it wasn’t the greatest looking thing ever we can all agree it was pretty entertaining and enjoyable to watch. The WWF at the time put The Big Show, Kane and the Hardcore champion Raven in a Hardcore Match that literally saw all three men beat the shit out of each other in so many ways. From using a golf cart to throwing each other through walls and glass windows, this match defines what a hardcore match should be. It wasn’t the most perfect hardcore match but it was one hell of a spectacle. Now there were some decent technical matches including Chris Jericho vs. William Regal and Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle. But the big 4 matches of the night really stood out and made this Mania legendary. The Undertaker vs. Triple H was at that point Taker’s greatest Mania match of all time and it was literally a slobber knocker. Both men brought out their A-game and destroyed each other. Then we had Shane McMahon vs. his father Vince McMahon and let me tell you this match was more storytelling than it was entertaining. And yes this was a very entertaining match but the story of a father cheating on his son’s mother and literally treating her like shit to the point where she becomes a mute and then the son gets back at him by buying his competition WCW, yeah this match is going to be something. It was very overbooked and very insane coming into the PPV, plus add in Mick Foley as the special guest referee and my god this match was shockingly amazing. My favorite match of the night and one of my favorite matches of all time stole the entire show. The Triple Threat TLC Tag Team match for the Tag Team Titles between the Hardy Boyz, the Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian is a 5 star match up that had so many extreme moments and saw three of the greatest tag teams in WWE and wrestling history collide. And that spot where Edge spears a dangling Jeff Hardy from the ladder is LEGEND-FUCKING-DARY!!!!! How can this amazing Mania close the show; there is no way you can top this match. Oh wait we still had The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin as the main event and the promo package alone should be an added bonus to why this Mania is fucking legendary. The promo package with Limp Bizkit’s My Way in the background is by far top tier promo packing for any wrestling company and this main event is a top tier main event. Stone Cold and Dwayne Johnson beat the living shit out of each other. Both men did each other’s finishing moves, both men bloodied each other up, both men were on a mission to kill each other. Okay that last one was a stretch but still that’s what it felt like. The finale of this match was shocking as Austin aligned with Vince McMahon and turned heel, ending the long feud between the two men. Austin won the match and the WWF championship and in the end he and Vince raised each other’s hands and all we can do is watch in shock but yo that main event was fucking epic. Many people call this Mania the end of the Attitude Era and I kind of agree with them. But in general WrestleMania X-Seven is by far the greatest WrestleMania of all time and no other WrestleMania has been able to be as legendary and epic as this Mania. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7N7De2VHX8
