You know having the word “worst” and “of 2020” together might be the simplest way to talk about anything in 2020 since the year in general sucked from January to up to this point. But I’m not here to talk about the whole year of 2020 and why this year literally caused so much bullshit and stress for people and why everyone thinks its okay to hate on each other, instead I’m going to shit on some movies. I mean that’s why we came here right, to talk about some of the worst films of the year. 2020 hit movies in a bad way as many big blockbusters of the year were pushed back to 2021 or went straight to streaming on demand. Plus it doesn’t help that the death of movie theaters is on the mind for many as movie theaters had to close thanks to the pandemic. But that didn’t stop for these films on this list to still be seen by a lot of people. Whether it was seen on the big screen or streamed on a big screen TV, we still were able to see some bad films. No not every film on this list is bad but were defiantly disappointing. Usually I do a Top 10 Movies of the year list but I never have done a worst list so this is going to be extra fun. To be able to talk about and dear I say this re-watch these 10 films again, God kill me now before I have to re-watch any of these films again. Now I haven’t seen every film this year so I will only be counting the films I did watch. Comment below what you think is the worst film of 2020 and let’s unfortunately pay 20 bucks or more and get the family together and countdown the Top 10 Worst Films of 2020.
Top 10 Worst Films of 2020

10. Impractical Jokers: The Movie – For me to have the movie of one of my favorite shows of the last decade on this list is pretty shocking. For what it’s worth I didn’t hate everything about the film but it’s what centers the film that makes me hate it. The film is based on the show where 4 friends compete to do pranks and try to embarrass each other but this time it is in movie form and has a twist. The twist is the gang has only 3 tickets to a Miami party hosted by Paula Abdul so they are competing to see who goes. The problem that surrounds this film is the fact that it goes from being a great idea on paper to becoming bad in execution. The film starts off with a plot/story that brings us to this moment back in the 90’s when the Impractical Jokers sneaked into a Paula Abdul concert disguised as security and ruin the concert and Paula Abdul vowed to get revenge on the Jokers. As a whole if the Impractical Jokers film stayed like the hidden camera show and used this Paula Abdul part with only having 3 tickets as part of the plot instead of this plot that saw the Jokers do pretty much a full on movie plot then maybe the film would had been more enjoyable and not take me away from the actual hidden camera part of the actual film. I enjoyed the pranks and Impractical Jokers part of the film as there were moments that were cracking me up but when we leave the jokes behind and go back into the plot/story of the film it kind of takes me away from the reason why I wanted to see this film. This pains me to put it on this list as I don’t think the film is bad, it just isn’t that good like I thought it would be and disappointed me in a way. There are other bad films I could had put on this list but I put this one instead because I was so excited to see it and yet in the end I was very disappointed. Again it’s not a bad film, I’d watch it again just for the jokes but that’s pretty much it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQQ8_VVR4TA

9. Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga – So this movie is kind of based on a real life yearly event called Eurovision Song Contest, which is a international song competition held in Europe. However this movie is about a duo that is given a chance by their country to represent the country in the song competition. The film stars Will Ferrell (Lars Erickssong) and Rachel McAdams (Sigrit Ericksdottir) and they are an Icelandic music duo called Fire Saga. The film is a comedy that was released on Netflix back in June and to many people it was pretty funny and it was at one point one of the most popular films being streamed on the streaming service. Now while it was pretty popular with many people, I found the film to not only be a bore, but not funny at all and quite frankly annoying. I’ve never heard of Eurovision before and this film made me not care about the competition at all. Plus the film’s songs were pretty bland. I was very disappointed in this film, considering it starred the talented Rachel McAdams and one of the funniest people in the world Will Ferrell. I’m pretty disappointed in this film to be honest because it had all this hype centered on it but yet it performed terribly, my opinion of course. This is probably one of Will Ferrell’s worst films and for Rachel McAdams it wasn’t her acting that bothered me, although I don’t blame her cause I mean the dialogue was just horrendous, but it was the fact that she wasn’t even singing in the film that really turned me off from her in the film. Yeah the film doesn’t hide the fact that they have other singers singing the song but it is being lip synched into the film. Also the story feels pretty meh considering it has potential in some places. This film is a turn off, it had a couple of funny jokes but most of the time I was bored and didn’t care for the film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIDEzkXs7lE

8. The New Mutants – This film took 4 years to complete as re-shoots, push backs, a Disney acquisition and then of course this pandemic but finally the film came out, in theaters during the pandemic in August and well it wasn’t shocking that it did badly. It was a critical flop and most of all it was 4 years too late for this film as it is terrible. The film is based off the X-Men comic books of the same name and it is also a horror film. Not only was this film not scary but it also didn’t feel like an X-Men type of film. This film originally was set to be released into theaters back in 2018, one year after Logan, but it was pushed back and delayed until 2019, delayed again because of Deadpool 2 and Dark Phoenix and then delayed again because of Covid, if only they delayed it one more time for fun because it wouldn’t make a difference as you had all this time to try and make it better right, Right? Here the problem the film is kind of boring but also 2 % enjoyable. The characters feel trapped as they and the actors playing the role of the characters have potential but they are stuck under this very boring film that it feels like a 2015 – 2017 DC Comics film, dark, bad and trying too hard to be under a franchise that was rushed and failed in execution. Even Justice League was better than this pile of garbage and that film was also bad. At least that one is getting a second chance, maybe this one should too. I also feel like this film is trying hard to be like IT since the main character’s power is bringing people’s nightmares to life. Now that sounds awfully a lot like our favorite horror clown Pennywise right?? I would like this film to get a second chance in the future, maybe even remade in the future but next time don’t take half a decade to be released. The film did have potential, if it had better dialogue, better horror elements that were actually scary and I don’t know maybe actual characters from the X-Men universe to make it seem like were really in the X-Men franchise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_vJhUAOFpI

7. The Main Event – Honestly when you see WWE Studios before any motion picture then 9 out of 10 times the film is most likely going to be bad and The Main Event is one of those times. So remember the film Like Mike starring Bow Wow, a film where Bow Wow’s character finds a pair of sneakers that used to be worn and owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan and when he wears the shoes he is able to play basketball like Jordan, well yeah that’s this movie here except terrible. So our young character named Leo is a big fan of WWE and he dreams of becoming a WWE wrestler. Leo gets bullied at school and made fun of for liking wrestling and the WWE. Leo then finds this mysterious box that holds a luchador mask. He puts the mask on and then has these wrestling powers and is able to do flips perfectly and his voice deepens and he is strong. Okay I’m bored explaining this, pretty much he auditions in this WWE competition and takes on some wrestlers in the WWE, like legit wrestlers acting as fictional wrestlers in the WWE, more like NXT but hey continuity doesn’t exist in WWE films based on wrestling. I don’t think the film is terrible but I mean come on like this film is pretty silly and just ridiculous. Now Like Mike is also pretty silly but I mean it at least had a good story to back up its plot and interesting characters. This film’s main story I think is gaining self confidence but I mean out of all the films for this topic to be under, why does it have to be a WWE Studios film not named Fighting with My Family. Yeah no this film is just ridiculously not that good and I’m not shocked to be honest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUPxk5VMB8g

6. Hubie Halloween – Uncut Gems was in my Top 10 movies of 2019 list last year and boy how far the Sandler ship sunk in 2020. Now in all fairness we were promised a bad film if Sandler was snubbed in the Academy Awards. Now this film is so bad that we know it’s going to be bad just from the trailer alone and the fact that Sandler is playing a stupid character and being joined by his buddies who need a few extra bucks till there next project. The film is about a town that is experiencing disappearances on Halloween night and Hubie is the only person who is willing to see who is causing all the disappearances. Now while this film is meant to be bad and trust me it is but it also is kind of enjoyable for all the wrong reasons. For starters I love me some Adam Sandler and ridiculous characters he plays, have been since I was young and probably until I pass away but I mean this isn’t as bad as Jack and Jill, where Sandler is playing a woman. Yeah I choose this film over Jack and Jill with Academy Award winner Al Pacino. Another reason why I found this terrible film enjoyable is because it is very stupid from the jokes to its ridiculous plot to the most wackiest twist ever. Finally this movie that I hope gets nominated for a Razzie is enjoyable because it’s just a fun Adam Sandler film that we know is going to be bad but we don’t care because if Sandler is having fun then we are having fun. This film was bad but I somehow had a sort of fun time watching it, I chuckled a few times and I mean I wouldn’t watch it again but it would make great background noise for when I hang out with friends and were playing Cards Against Humanity or just chilling. Oh well let’s hope next year he is in a better film that could make the Top 10 best list again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY3SuNvqQPw

5. Doolittle – Robert Downey Jr. went from being the most loved superhero of all time to the worst version of Doolittle. How many times will Hollywood continue to remake the doctor that can talk to animals? This movie came out all the way back in January, a time where our biggest threat in the world was possibly a third world war so instead of worrying if 2020 was going to be the fall of humankind, which is was, people attempted to distract themselves to this family film and boy would I rather watch 2020 all over again than this piece of shit film. I mean this film has terrible CGI, the dialogue is pretty bland, the characters are not interesting and the villain of this film is just so one dimensional. The film has an all star cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Antonio Banderas, Rami Malek, Emma Thompson, Octavia Spencer, Tom Holland, Michael Sheen, Ralph Fiennes, and so much more and yet they don’t help bring this film together and actually try to make it good. Instead were left with this pile of dog shit that is stuck under our shoe and the only way to get it out is wash it off and hope the stench of it goes away. I’m serious how does Downey Jr. go from playing his most iconic role of Tony Stark/Iron-Man to this pathetic version of Dr. Doolittle. How does Rami Malek go from winning the Academy Award for his role as Freddie Mercury to voicing a fucking CGI Gorilla? My biggest question is how the fuck did was this film the 7th highest grossing film in 2020 but yet still be a box office bomb? I honestly heard how bad the film was the second it came out and I knew the film was going to be bad when I saw the trailer. No offense RDJ but if you’re going to play anyone from the U.K, stick with Sherlock Holmes, you’re shockingly better in that role than this one. What’s crazy is the fact that it’s only 5th on my list so you can just imagine the next 4 pieces of shits I picked over this piece of shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjm6rDgKNMY

4. Capone – A film about the most well known American gangster sounds amazing on paper and could be executed in a great way, had this film actually be about the American gangster Al Capone but instead we get a film about Capone during his years with dementia and shitting the bed. The trailer for this film makes it look good but add in the actual 104 minutes of this film and what a mess we are left with. Tom Hardy’s performance as Al Capone is over the top. He does pretty well but I mean he also needs to act like Capone is losing his fucking mind and is bat shit crazy while also having dementia. This film has a lot of problems, like a lot. For starters the pacing for this film is slow and boring. The cinematography is good but I mean I can’t enjoy it with the shitty pacing of this film getting in my way and bored out of my mind. Also the story feels too cluttered as it’s about Capone having dementia but at the same time FBI agents are surveying him as they think he is insane but at the same time Capone is having hallucinations but at the same time there is a plot where there is $10 million dollars somewhere hidden and only Capone knows where it is. Like I said this film is cluttered and too much is going on for just one little story of a dementia Al Capone. Now on paper this idea sounds smart but maybe if it was under a film that was mainly about the life of Al Capone and we had his time with dementia in the very last act of the film, but hey why not watch the most notorious gangster wearing a diaper, shitting the bed, mumbling his words and becoming an insane psychopath instead of learning more about the most badass villain in America’s history. Man what a joke of a film this is. Like I remember almost falling asleep halfway into the film because I was bored and uninterested in the story. I came into this film not knowing what it was about and you know what I should of just never wasted my 2 hours I spent on this film. But hey at least Tom Hardy did a decent job. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J5OE16C_zY

3. Guest House – Seriously who keeps giving Pauly Shore roles to be in? This film literally has the words “Horse Shit” written all over it because oh my god this film is fucking terrible. I watched this film not knowing what it is about, not watching the trailer, just looking at the movie poster and thinking okay let’s see how bad it is and my god it is horrendously bad. Pauly Shore’s career is somehow managing to come out of the 90’s and go into the 2020’s and somehow we are left with this attempt of a comedy. The film has horrible pacing like the first three minutes introduce us to our main characters but like I know nothing about them and then we are introduced to Pauly Shore’s character and bro I never cringed so much 10 minutes into a film like I promise you watching this movie is worse than watching CATS. Watching this movie made me feel like I just got the corona virus. Now it’s not funny to make jokes about a virus that has killed thousands of people, but I mean if any movie had corona virus in it I feel like this is the movie that would hold the motherload. Also who directed this movie, I’m dying to know. Sam Macaroni….who the actual fuck is that? He has no real films he directed, he worked on John Wick 3, kind of, and he helped voice 6 characters in the Beavis and Butthead revival. Here’s an idea let’s take Pauly Shore and the rest of probably the worst writers and actors in the world, put them in a room and let’s come with an idea of a film and say fuck it let’s film it and see the magic happen. I hate this movie, like I hated it. I hate Pauly Shore a lot more now and every time I watch and enjoy the shit out of Bio-Dome I’m going to be like: Steve don’t let this bad film distract you from the fact that you watched Pauly Shore try to make a comedy movie that feels like it was meant for the 90’s and spread his horrible comedy into the world. I might have chuckled here and there but my god this movie will cause you to get a headache. WAIT HOW MUCH OF A PERCENTAGE DOES THIS FILM HAVE??? 65%, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoXFhob6AmI

2. Bobbleheads: The Movie – In 2014 The Lego Movie made a splash into Hollywood and became one of the most successful animated films of all time. So Hollywood and many animated companies decided hey let’s make our own toy related animated films. Warner Bros kept making Lego Movies, Lionsgate decided to make a My Little Pony film, STX Entertainment made an Ugly Dolls film and Method Animation/Pathe Distribution made Playmobil the movie. Half of these films were successes, and the others not named Lego did poorly critically and commercially. Then there was this film created by Universal and….Microsoft. This film wasn’t based on a toy but a type of toy that people collect, Bobbleheads. So Bobbleheads: The Movie is kind of like Toy Story as the bobbleheads come to life and the story of the film is the family that owns the bobbleheads go on a weekend vacation and two uninvited intruders go into their home and try to swap one of the bobbleheads with a new baseball player bobblehead. So this movie sucks so much that I literally hated it and cringed not even 5 minutes after I started the film. The animation is basic and lacks any soul, the voice acting is okay I guess but I mean the dialogue in this film makes me cringe at the voice acting at some points and the story is just so stupid like I feel like this was created by children as a school project but oh no this screenplay was written by the same person who helped write 19 episodes of Goof Troop and Pooh’s Great Adventure and the director of this film directed Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Hunchback of Norte Dome and ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATED BEST PICTURE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!!!!! So what the fuck happened???? I think this film was made because fuck it why not kids will like it and in reality no, no kid at all will like this movie, no person in this world will like this movie. Oh and the best part is the main characters are just one dimensional, the human characters are fucking annoying and oh in the middle of the film CHER Bobblehead just magically becomes the center of attention in this film. I never hated an animated film as much as I hated this one like it’s not shocking that this movie was so bad because one I barely heard about the film so it must have been an under the radar film and two the film has a B rated cast that literally seem out of place for this ridiculous film. The animation could have been slightly better, the story could use a lot of work and most of all how does a director who worked on an Academy Award/one of Disney’s biggest films ever to then work on this movie that you can probably find at a gas station. Move over Emoji Movie you have yourself a friend to sit on the shelf of “Worst Animated Films of All Time”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMSSc7MMmY4

1. Mulan – I mean are you at all shocked considering it’s the only film in 2020 I reviewed because I had so much on my mind to talk about with this horrible film. This Disney live action “remake” is no way a remake but more of a copy and paste re-telling of the film with some 99 cent store replacements of certain characters and plot points like the burn village scene, Mushu, Shang, the cricket, every fucking song in the original film and the soul that this film doesn’t seem to have. The editing of this film is purely piles of human shit, the CGI looks like it was done on a 1994 Apple computer and the acting in this film is so terrible. Oh and I said this in my review but I’ll say it again this movie tarnished the legacy of the original animated film and in many ways this film is a big middle finger to Chinese culture and the original story of the ancient folklore of Mulan. No, I’m sorry but no one should had wasted 30 bucks to watch this film or 17 bucks or a single fucking penny on this sad attempt of a film. I literally want to rip off my balls and hand them to Disney for being their little bitch for many years, defending them with all of their live action films because they legit made me hate the company for a while after watching this horrible 99 cent store motion picture. If I see this film get one nomination in any category for the Golden Globes or the Academy Awards I will literally have a mini temper tantrum. Disney literally had to ruin the original film for this movie by taking out everything fun and adding in boring characters and a one dimensional villain that is only in the film so she and Mulan can have some sort of girl power moment. This film could have been way different, maybe even in Chinese with a whole new story and much darker/grittier than the original but nope let’s re-tell a story for this sad generation of kids that never saw a real cinematic film of Mulan and let’s make your parent’s pay an extra 30 bucks with their already $6.99 a month to watch this sad attempt of a film. Oh and let’s have our main actress have a huge controversy centered on the Chinese government and how they treat the people in China be the reason why the film becomes a worse center of attention. Honestly if you liked this movie then you don’t see the problem Mulan 2020 has on not only the original animated film but the Chinese culture it disrespected. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L80docjeW5o&t=483s
Honorable Mentions:
Alone – This film is literally a shot for shot rip off/remake of a Korean film that came out the same year onto Netflix called #Alive. Both are a zombie film where the main character is trapped inside their home and looks for a way to survive the zombie apocalypse alone in his house. Now while the Korean version did a great job critically, the shot for shot America version did poorly with its reception, getting only 40% on Rotten Tomatoes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9SdmI0KkSw
Project Power – Project Power isn’t terrible but it is very all over the place. The film is about a pill that can give you powers for 5 minutes and each pill’s power is different for each person. The film stars Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon Levitt and even they’re star power can’t help this Netflix flop. The action sequences were cool but this screenplay is unimpressive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw1vQgVaYNQ
Artemis Fowl – I don’t know what to say about this film because it was boring and had some unique things about it. But then again the moment where Josh Gad rips his whole mouth open looks horrible and haunts my dreams. Seriously the CGI in this film is not that impressive. It’s somehow better than Mulan so I’ll give it that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCGmDFJ16Jg
Scoob! – I feel bad to put this on the list, even in the honorable mentions because it’s not a terrible film. It has some of the heart of the Scooby Doo franchise but Will Forte as Shaggy pisses me off and the story kind of falls flat. I did like the Pup Named Scooby Doo beginning and the fact that this film included multiple Hanna-Barbera characters but I came to the conclusion that this film isn’t a good movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf1aW1z437I
